Little People, Big World

If you have ever been into the TLC channel on cable you will have heard of the Roloffs. This "Little People" family has a reality show about their everyday, not so normal, lives. They just so happen to live just down the road from us. Grammy Jackie loves the Roloffs and had to go visit their pumpkin patch. So here are a few pics from our day.
Grammy found a perfect pumpkin!

Ty got to hold a snake and seemed to be very comfortable. I on the other hand was not so comfortable! And it was cool feeling this huge turtle. Can this one fit in your cage Jill?

In the end we decided that the Roloff farm was a big tourist trap. There tractor ride was twice as much it was last year, $10 per person and it would have taken us an hour to buy our over priced pumpkin. So.... we decided to go to our favorite pumpkin patch down the road.

My Baby's First Day Of School

This year, I feel, is the last time for the next 14 years I will be able to have my baby go to school and not cry. If you don't already know, Ty is in my morning preschool class at Berry Bright in St. Helens. I love that I get to see him grow and learn every day, create his art projects and make new friendships. In the years to come I have to give up all of this to his future teachers and trust that they will teach and watch over him as good as I would.
That will be a very hard thing to do I fear. My handsome Preschooler!

Ty was so excited to go to school that he woke up an hour before he needed to and just hung out asking question after question about his exciting day. Most of them were ones that he had already asked and already knew the answer to but just wanted to here about them again.

This backpack is his most favorite thing he owns right now. It makes him feel like such a big boy!

This is where I hang my cool Lightning McQueen backpack.

Playing with bugs right before my friends got to school.

Singing silly songs at Circle Time

I made a funny spider hat with my friends at art can you find me?

Labor Day at Cannon Beach

Labor Day 2008 will always be remembered as the day my son lost his mind. I think he must have caught it from the seagulls or something. He did have a lot of fun though. You tell me what you think.
Yay, I finally got one!
Grandpa was the only one brave enough to go down to the beach with me and this crazy kid!

I think that this is the only second that Ty stood still the entire time we played at the beach.
I believe they are waiting for a wave to come and catch them.

We had a BBQ at a local park next to the beach for my Uncle John's B-day. My cousin Jessica and her daughter Taylor were able to come out for a visit and it was so fun to see how Taylor has grown. Isn't she a cutey!

Ty loved helping Cousin Jess with her game.

Hot Summer Swim - August 16

After an extremely hot weekend at our church camp out we HAD to take a cool dip in the pool. The kids always enjoy going over to Aimee's Grandma and Po Po's house to take advantage of their backyard pool and trampoline.

I had to share this gorgeous sunset. The colors were amazing!

Our Church Campout ,08

Our church camp out was a hot one this year. It was the hottest week in August, I think we broke 100 degrees for 3-4 days straight. This water balloon fight was a blessing. It started out as a fun game of toss but ended up in a water bath. The balloons could not have been actual water balloon brand because you literally had to squeeze and pop them for them to break. We had a lot of fun though.
The kids had a blast with Mr. Mo fishing for crawdads. As you can see they cough quite a few of them. Mo is always a favorite of the kids because he's not afraid to get down and dirty with them. NO we did not let the kids keep and eat these poor ugly things. Gross!

A water fight that started with the kids and ended up as a war between the adults!!!
One is never to old for a good old water fight!

Fun In The Sun - Cultus Lake 2008

Another year comes around when we find ourselves planning meals, buying new flashlights and working on our tans so we won't look completely white in our bathing suits. Our yearly camping trip to our beloved Cultus Lake is something that our entire family looks forward to all year long. The gorgeous lake, spacious campsites, and "usually" sunny weather brings us back year after year. In fact my Dad figured that we have been to Cultus 25 out of my 30 years. I hope that my son can say that when he is 30. Right now I think that he would stay out there all year around if he could. Here are some of our fun times from 2008. Enjoy!!

Texas Hold 'Em in the game tent. A Man's game!!!

Always having fun with Cousin Dylan

Even little girls like to be pretty. Mikella getting her nails painted by Grandma.

Steve spent a fair amount of time checking in on his meat shop back home. There are only a few places on the beach that you can get a call out and this was Steve's lucky spot for most of the week.

As children we've spent hours sitting quietly waiting to capture a little chipmunk or hungry bird. Here Cousin Josh is holding a string that is attached to a stick holding up a box. When a little friend comes to eat the food under the box he will pull the string and trap it.

And finally they catch one!

It has been a tradition to take silhouette pictures at sunset over the lake. I have pictures of myself as young as five or six doing this same thing.
