A Pirate Birthday

My Big Boy 4 Year Old!
I can not believe that my son is already 4. Time goes by so fast. And he is so BIG now. We had to continue with the pirate theme since that is all Tyler can talk about the last few months. He wanted to have his party at the preschool which made it really easy on me. They played a bunch and made their own pirate hats.

A pirate birthday is not complete without a pirate cake!

Spoon swards, unguard!

Molly like the cake I think.

The best part of a party.......PRESENTS!!!

Aunt Shell made a treasure hunt game for the kids. The older ones helped the younger navigate their treasure map through the uncharted territories of the land of Berry Bright to find their treasure.

Oh man, I think I'm lost!

Wow, my very own treasure box. Thank you everyone for all of your special presents and for celebrating my 4th birthday!

Trick or Treat Berry Bright Style

Our little pirate got to take his costume on a test run at his preschool Halloween party. They got to go on a pumpkin hunt, play fun games and of course have a very yummy, sugary treat before heading home.
Fishing for the big one

Pumpkin bowling

This is what we call a play by play on how to frost and devourer a cupcake.

Ty and his classmates had loads of fun!

Birthday Treat Suprise

On Ty's birthday Daddy brought him home a special treat from his work that made his day. Believe it or not this is a maple bar!
With a pirate theme picked out for his party this was pretty cool. It's kind of hard to see because Ty turned it upside down in the box before he got it home and damaged it, but his face is on top of a pirates body on the picture in the middle. Now that's what I call a maple bar! Way to go Dad!!!!

Fun Times With the "Grands"

Tyler and I took his Grandpa and Grandma and his Great-Grandpa and Grandma to the Zoo on a chilly Saturday afternoon before Halloween. The animals were very active and alert. It was a lot of fun watching Ty take his Grandparents on a "Tyler's Tour" around his zoo. I think we got to see pretty much everything in one quick whirlwind. "OOO, Grandpa look here! Grandma, Grandma you gotta come see this. " I pray that they had as much fun!
Great Grandma Nelson
This poor polar bear wasn't having too much fun. It's an awfully cute picture though!

We fought through the crowds and god a glimpse at the new baby elephant. At first I thought that the medium sized one was the baby until it actually walked around the corner. Silly Me! It is amazing how small they start out. Cute isn't he?

The end of one of many days at the zoo!

Halloween Night Adventures

This year Ty decided that it would be cool to be Captain Hook. All he could talk about is what sward he would get. I think that if I dressed him in his normal clothes and got him a sward he probably would have been just as happy, but he was definitely a cute little villain. Cousin Aimee also decided to be a pirate. They were quite the pair!

At first Ty wouldn't go up to doors by himself. Dad had to coax him into even saying Trick-or-Treat and thank you. He did eventually warm up after Dad said that he would eat all of his candy if he didn't start being polite. That worked pretty good when his candy started disappearing in Dad's pockets!

These two villains are quite the pair. Best friends Caleb and Ty got a special treat when they found out they got to go Trick-or-Treat together. It didn't matter that they hadn't seen each other for months, they were right back together like no time had gone by.
They were inseparable the whole night!
Later that night we met up with Cousin Doug and added another villain to the bunch.

We all had a great time and I loved that I got to steal a little more time with my dear friend, Jill. After making an appearance at Great-Grandpa and Grandma's, Uncle J's and ending up at Grandpa and Grandma's after 9 pm the kid's bags and tummies were full of candy and we were all tuckered out.

Pumpkin Carving '08

Tyler enjoyed drawing his own face and carving his own pumpkin this year. Like always we had four pumpkins to create faces for this year and Ty had a little hand in each of them. One for Mom, one for Dad, one for our Kitty Gabe and his very own. He was very proud of them all!

Little People, Big World

If you have ever been into the TLC channel on cable you will have heard of the Roloffs. This "Little People" family has a reality show about their everyday, not so normal, lives. They just so happen to live just down the road from us. Grammy Jackie loves the Roloffs and had to go visit their pumpkin patch. So here are a few pics from our day.
Grammy found a perfect pumpkin!

Ty got to hold a snake and seemed to be very comfortable. I on the other hand was not so comfortable! And it was cool feeling this huge turtle. Can this one fit in your cage Jill?

In the end we decided that the Roloff farm was a big tourist trap. There tractor ride was twice as much it was last year, $10 per person and it would have taken us an hour to buy our over priced pumpkin. So.... we decided to go to our favorite pumpkin patch down the road.
